Homework

1.  Compare how two of the products from your case study represent the HERO.  Time yourself for 20 minutes to answer this

My first case study being the film trailer Harry Brown, throughout the trailer he's repesented as an old man, who's lives in a run down estate. Who's lost a lot. So he's shown as a person who's has nothing to lose. Firstly he's shown as someone who doesn't want to get involved with the street crime going on. This is shown when he says to the man 'you should talk to the police.' Then after his friend is killed, he then rises to do something about it. He's shown as a hero when he trys to save the woman who's been captured by the drug dealer and is in pain. It then shows a range of different clips, showing Harry Brown the main charactor being a hero and sorting things out, like when he sets the building on fire that the drug dealer lives in. Then driving off in the Land Rover with the girl. Then he's also shown as the hero again when the main in the background says 'As far as i'm concerned Harry Brown is doing us a favour. Then is shows gun shots when Harry Brown is winning and taking down the bad charactors. Then the last scene shows him as the hero when he says "You've failed to maintain your weapon". This is completly different compared to Attack the block, during this film the hero is firstly showed as a bad person, who is involved in a lot of street crime. This slowly changes to him becoming the hero.

2.  Pick one advert from the TV and analyse how brand values are communicated to the audience.

Brand values are firstly represented in this advert at the start, when the camera shot pans across the top of the food to show what they sell. Next it shows a close up off mini yorkshire puddings on a tray being carried into a room. This shows the audience products that they sell. A few clips later it shows a close up of some ham being cut, in slow motion. This is to make the product look appealing towards the audience. It also gives them the idea that they can buy that themselves, and actually make it the same as the advert. Then it moves to the cheese section, the surronding lights give the products a classy look. the cheese is also a close up shot to show the audience exactly what it's like. Then following is a range of different foods, again showing with the same technique.
