Identify how Media Products from your case study make links with other Media platforms. What are the reasons for these links?

1. Social networking sites are a great way to spread the word of the companys creation, an example of well used social networking sites would be Facebook and Twitter. The reason why many companies use social networking sites to advertise is simply because it's free to do so. It also allows them to access the audience a lot easier, Facebook has 800 million active users, so if a company has a free opotunity to advertise their product through these sites they will. The amount of Facebook users out there is starting to increase everysingle day, it's getting more and more popular. So more and more people will see the fan pages created. On Facebook they have a choice of liking a page, so every post they do will now appear on their newsfeeds. The same with Twitter, except the user will have to follow the page. Film's like 'Superbad' and 'Attack the Block' have got there own fan page on Facebook, the 'Superbad' facebook page has around 6.4 million likes, on this page they'll be able to display information to the audience such as pictures from the film, videos from the film, release dates and so on. Attack The Block also has a Facebook page, with 99,467 likes. Out of the two case studies, Attack The block is the only one with a Twitter page. With only 3,257 followers. This is quite low compared to the Facebook page, simply because Facebook is a more used site.

2. Creating charactor fan based Twitters is also a way to promote the product, for example the Doctor Who official twitter fan page is a great way to promote the programs and the characters, it lets the audience get to know them personally. This is done via the photos being uploaded, the tweets done etc. The photos upload let the audience in to their personal lives, it shows them what they get up to in their spare time. The Doctor Who fan page has 283,101 followers. Another example for Character fan based Twitters, is parody accounts. An example of one would be the Batman paraody account, it has 400,826 followers. This account is a comedy account, posting nothing you would expect an official batman twitter to post, such as '400,000 followers, yay can i have my parents back?' and 'Getting ready to spend thanks giving with friends and family, so nobody.' Some people my find these jokes not funny, however this account may encourage people to watch the Batman films.

3. A well known website which you can use for social interaction is YouTube, YouTube allows users to comment on videos and also upload videos for others to see. This is also good for film companies, as it allows them to upload their trailers or clips from the film for billions of people to view everyday. It also allows the audience to get involved with the trailer, by leaving comments with what they think on the video clip.
