Reception theory.

Call Of Duty Black Ops 2 reveal trailer.

Preferred Reading: This trailers preferred reading, is that it wants to give the audience the impression that the game is completely unique to any other Call Of Duty, It also wants to give the impression that it's a high action packed video game. To show this, they've added in as much action packed clips as possible from the actual game play, without revealing to much of the actual game. So overall, the preferred reading is a fun action packed game which everyone can enjoy. So they would play the game or watch the trailer.

Negotiated Reading: This trailer is great for anyone who is interested in the Call Of Duty games, the trailer shows the correct amount of footage to get people interested, without giving away to much. There's a range of different shots used during this trailer, for example a wide angled shot around 28 seconds to show just how advanced the technology is that they're going on about in the trailer. Another example would be 1st person shots, which happens around 46 seconds. This shows the user the danger that those characters are going through. However people who aren't interested in the Call Of Duty games may think this trailer isn't very good, for several reasons. Such as, they may think it's not very realistic and the changes of those things happening in the trailer in real life is quite low. Some might also think that the game is to violent, resulting in younger people performing acts relating to what happens during the game. But they're still willing to try out the game, even though they have a mixed view on the trailer.

Opposite Reading: The complete opposite reading for this trailer, is people may think that the trailer is just to violent, it shouldn't even be released. They shouldn't display gun violence to children or teenagers, as it may effect them in later life by the way they act etc. Some people may not be interested in gaming, therefore they'll think it's simply a complete waste of time. And they don't see how playing games can fascinate people as it does. So the complete opposite reading would be, they wouldn't play or watch the game trailer at anytime.
