Media homework.

2.  What sort of representations are created of young people?

From this trailer, the young people are represented as two types of people. Firstly upper class citizen, this is shown simply by the way that they're dressed, the location that this trailer is filmed in, the furniture that's surrounding them, and finally their actions. An example of the characters actions would be at 20 seconds when the girl is feeding the man grapes. The other representation that's created in this trailer would be the young party type of people. This is shown simply by their actions, what they're doing. They're all dancing around acting happy, then when he opens the bottle with his sword it sort of backs up the party life style. Then finally the partying representation is all topped off when the text appears saying 'Keep calm and party on'. So to sum it all up, there's two completely different representations created during this trailer, firstly a posh upper class representations, then second representation created is the teenagers party life style.

3. What do we learn about e4 from watching the trailer?

When watching the trailer we learn about e4 quite a lot, firstly that it isn't really a channel aimed at the whole population. I believe e4 is aimed at the younger generation, simply because of the trailer shown. It's for people who are more interested in the drama type of programs. e4 is the type of channel that displays reality TV programs.

  1. Calum, there are some good comments here but you need to be using Media language more completely. For example - what camera shots are used? Is there diegetic or non diegetic music used? HOW are the representations created?
